Fia Fia

Every 2 years Pt England school celebrates our annual Fia Fia night. Fia Fia is when all of the students get to perform a dance or some type of cultural dance on stage. Some performances we have a usually cultural ones like Tongan, Samoan, Asian, Cook Islands and Bollywood.

This year we are having our annual Fia Fia this Thursday, we have all been working hard on our performances and today we are having our very first Fia Fia rehearsal for 2016 straight after morning tea.

This Year I am in the senior hip hop group, my group is a mixed year 7 & 8 group with both boys and girls. I am proud of my group because when they started we were all shy and our dance was a mess , but throughout the weeks we have all  gained confidence and our dance is looking way better than it did in the beginning. Our group has been practicing in the staff room every day after lunch.

The thing I am looking forward to this year is probably watching all of the different performances and supporting my friends in their groups.

Identity

Today my home class and I talked about Identity and what it's like to know your identity and what it's like to not know your identity. On this image you can see that our teacher has traced and outline of one of our students and then filled it up with words we shared with the class about the feelings some people will feel when knowing your identity and not knowing your identity. On the left hand side you can see that the words are written with a black whiteboard marker, this side is what people would feel when the know their identity. On the right hand side the letters are written in purple, this is what it might feel like to not know your identity
